Arizona Speed and Marine

Definitely one of the key aspects of the build goes to ASM in Chandler Arizona. Under the direction of Bryon the foreman on this project, the chassis took some real engineering to make a precise plan of how to tackle such a MEGA chassis mod. After tedious planning all of the OEM leaf spring and mounting brackets are removed and then mock up brackets are made to provide a rough templates of where to place the rear air bags and four link. In addition, more modifications are made to the front suspension A arms and spring pockets to make room for a smooth ride on front bags too. Still waiting on the wheels for proper alignment, this lowering project is no easy task.

To provide a the most air pressure, with the longest stroke without ballooning we were donated a set of Slam Specialties air bags.  These pressure tested bags are beyond all others in industry standards Slam Specialties Air Bags have internal bump stops that keep the Air Springs from self-destructing at zero pressure. These bags are stronger and stiffer and by comparison promote an equal the ride of a luxury car.

Sir Michaels Parts

One of the first treatments to the rear end of the bed includes hand made 18 gauge roll pan supplied courtesy of Sir Michaels. This was slightly altered to provide a custom fit for our project by closing up the gap below the tail gate. To make this fit as tight as possible we added one inch by six feet to the bottom of the pan. This addition does loose access to the factory spare tire release although we will not be using that for this truck. The addition was made in a metal brake and then tig welded to the Sir Michaels pan. The completed pan was then precisely fit to the bed and welded in place using the holes already in the top of the pan. Finally to completely smooth out the gate a Sir Michaels handle relocation kit was installed. Again for our application we metal finished the gate and welded both sides by cutting out a portion of the inside of the gate , installed the handles and re-welded the plate back into position still allowing us to use the OEM Mopar handle, very tight.
