The G5/S and G5/R Challengers are performance packages offering custom parts and accessories to the masses. Many of these parts are taken right from the SRT Roadster Concept and bolt right on to the Dodge Challenger you buy from your .local dealership.

Have you ever dreamt about what it would be like to take a race car and drive it on the street? Why not take many of the characteristics of a race car (a modern one at that) and apply them to a showroom stock muscle car for the street? That is what's called a "Street Fighter," an extreme g-machine of sorts. Essentially, a race car for the street. Generally 60's and 70's muscle cars built with modern fuel injected power plants, suspensions, and breaks that enable vintage iron to outperform today's modern performance cars is what's called a g-machine - also referred to as Pro-Touring. The G5/S and G5/R packages are Street Fighter Challengers outfitted with aggressive styling and backed by extreme performance for the street.

The idea of cutting the windshield and roof off of a brand new SRT8 Challenger sounded crazy at first. When I first mentioned the idea to Chris he liked the idea but wasn't sure how it'd look. So I thought about it and played around with some 2006 Challenger Concept car images in photoshop by cutting off the roof and chopping the windshield. The idea for this originally came to me when I though of a really cool and unique dodge concept car called the Super Charger. The design director I worked for at my first job happened to own this beautiful unrestored show car that he eventually sold. I had the opportunity to go for a ride in the Charger show car for a couple hours one sunny summer day. That car got more looks than anything I'd ever seen and most people didn't even know what it was. That car was where most of the inspiration for the SRT8 Challenger Roadster came from. Chris and I decided immediately that this car had to be radical. We knew that the competition would be tough if were were going to try and get it sponsored by Chrysler with a brand new Challenger.

The SRT8 Roadster plays off the Mopar show cars of the 60's and early 70's but with the style and flavor of a modern Mopar muscle car for today. To be a true roadster, this Challenger won't have a roof. It's not a convertible, its a roadster. The roof is replaced with custom molded composite tonneau cover that starts behind the front seats and ends at the front of the trunk lid. The 2-seat roadster is cool but what if you got more than just one buddy you wanna go cruising with? No problem! The tonneau cover can be removed and replaced with a shorter cover that exposes the 2 rear factory seats!

The Posey Challenger Concept is an all-purpose 2008 Challenger race car that you can drive on the track or the street. Many of the custom body parts and paint scheme from the vintage T/A car are applied to this concept to pay tribute to this legendary Mopar.

The paint scheme is very close to the original but updated with modern day sponsor graphics and a custom candy green version of the old school Sublime Green which I like to call Psycho-Sublime Green. The top of the T/A style hood scoop is painted gloss black as well as the roof. The #77 and side R/T stripes are faithfully recreated to look as close to the original graphics as possible.

The front bumper is a G5/S front bumper with a G5/R competition front aluminum chin spoiler. A "DODGE" graphic is added just like the vintage T/A racer. The fog lights have been deleted and cool air ducts are to be added to route cool air to the front brakes.

The rear bumper is a G5/R style bumper including a modified one-off lower rear diffuser also based off the G5/R diffuser.

Rounding out the purpose built competition exterior styling would be nothing less than a set of Fikse wheels. Chosen for this concept are the Mach IV wheels. Race wheels for a race car.

The all-purpose function and attitude is incorporated through out the entire concept. More details to come...
